Womb Wellness Salad and Dressing

Blessed Love Sistars and Bredren!

So I have been continuing with incorporating as many raw foods into my daily livity as I can - each day varies as does each week. Some days I just don't have enough fruits and veggies to eat mainly raw til dinnertime, other days I do. So it's about finding a balance each day. I have however, definitely cut out snack and sugary or salty foods - no more cheat meals on that end. I have also stopped using marijuana - I stopped smoking a while back, only vaping, but now I am on a break from vaping as well. I am actually hoping to eat the oil instead. This is just what I need to do for myself. I thought my withdrawal would be horrible, but it's been a week and I feel great, no side effects.

So today I just want to share a simple salad and dressing that are great for the womb and overall wellness.  This meal is good for mental clarity and energy/iron levels. Please note bredren that though I provide a lot of information for Dawtas  - you can still try these meals because they are overall healthy no matter your gender. Furthermore you can serve your wife these meals, you can ensure she buys the correct foods to keep herself and you - and the family, healthy and fit. Livity is a partnership - a man must see his woman's womb as his own. he must see her physical struggles as his own, have compassion for his mate for life. Likewise a Dawta can use my recipes to create her own kitchen healing magic - everything I post you can get creative with and make your own substitutes based on what you and your family like or need!

Note this salad and dressing is meant to serve one person, it is a whole meal.

Salad:

4 small-medium tomatoes
1 leaf kale
2 leaves lettuce
4 leaves bok choy or pakchoy, whatever you call it (chinese cabbage)
or you can use spinach or chard - really any combination of greens you have at home will be good!
1 large cucumber or 2 medium, 3 small
2 stalks of chive/green onion/scallions
1 bunch parsley
half a beet or a whole one if small

chop everything up, grate the beet and put them in your big bowl

Dressing

ToMango Dressing

1 small Mango
3 small-medium Tomatoes
1 pimento
1 sprig parsley
Half 1 leaf of leek
4 chives
celery leaves
1 tamarind pulp not seed (optional)
thumb turmeric (or 1 tsp ground turmeric)
1 tbsp coconut oil
½ tsp salt

Soak tamarind in water for 15 minutes
Extract mango flesh from seed,
Slice tomatoes and take out seeds
Use a knife and scrape the tamarind flesh from the seeds into the blender container. Combine all the other ingredients and blend til it becomes creamy.

Smother your salad and mix well. You will use all the dressing!

What a great and refreshing meal that will help reduce your experiences with bad and painful periods!
Eating these types of meals daily will eliminate period pains and reduce the blood flow. Turmeric is great for treating the womb as is beetroot. Parsley detoxes the blood.

Ila's Rainbow Raw Wraps and Seasoned Dressing

Blessed Love,

As I have shown how good beetroot juice is for the womb and overall health, I will also share my favourite food recipe with beetroot.
It is important to eat live foods every day for their electromagnetic energies which they receive from the Sun as InI do as well. The more fresh and colourful foods InI eat, the higher the vibrations within, the more balanced our electric/positive and magnetic/negative life currents will be. All illnesses and womb issues will be healed just by eating two meals like this a day consistently. Overall the more colourful the good, the happier and brighter and lighter InI will feel.

Ila's Rainbow Wraps

Make a rainbow salad with all the colours of the rainbow.
I grate all veggies that are hard and crunchy like carrot and beetroot

Tomato
Cucumber
Carrot
Beetroot
Purple or red cabbage
Patchoy
Kale
Okra
Christophene
Pimento pepper
Sweet pepper
Avocado if you have

Here is an example of one of my salads, make it with what you have, anything raw is vital!

I prepare hummus to go with it

1 cup chick peas per soak them overnight in baking soda to reduce cooking time. Boil til they are tender.
Juice of 1 lemon
A few dashes of cumin, turmeric, sea salt to taste
1.5 tbs coconut oil
Dash of sesame oil
I clove garlic if blending

Blend it altogether or mash it for a chunky texture like me

Make a salad dressing

You can use my ginger dressing or beetroot dressing if you didn't add it to the salad. This is an overall seasoned dressing that can be used as a base for other flavours.

1.5 tbs coconut oil
3 tbs apple cider vinegar
Sea salt
Cumin
Turmeric
Thumb of ginger
Piece of onion
1 clove garlic
Pimento
Blend it altogether

For the beetroot dressing just add less ginger and garlic and then put some beetroot to this mixture and blend.

Use wraps from the store or make your own! I haven't perfected this yet

Totally Raw Plantain Dressing for Salad Recipe

Blessed Love all loved ones in Fari!

Today's post is a recipe of one of my Sistren Kindele of TuffLikeIron clothing, who is also a raw vegan and activist. She taught another Sistren - Sis Quilin of The Fire is Lit Bookstore (you can find her store on etsy!) this recipe and she in turn recommeneded it to me - and I am so glad I tried it with this aging plantain I had in the kitchen.
FYI - plantain is in the family of banana - it is actually meant to be eaten RAW! and because the thought of it seems too tangy and like it would twist up your mouth I was reluctant to try it. But one thing to remember is that plantains are ultimately VERY SWEET! so there is no fear in trying it raw in this particular recipe because it is quite sweet with a lovely array or seasonings to spice it up.
Now I decided the added ingredients in this recipe here my own, and you can too. but this recipe here is pretty tasty!

RAW PLANTAIN DRESSING

1 ripe plantain (skin should be black)
half an onion
1 pimento
2 strings chive
ginger powder or a piece of ginger
dash Braggs liquid amino (soy sauce)
(sea salt if you wish)
1 tsp olive oil (you could try another like sesame or coconut to see how the flavours mesh)

Combine the above ingredients in the blender

Pause and shake to get it going, you don't need to add anything else.

It will be smooth and whipped and light!

Make your salad and spread the dressing sauce on top, makes enough for two people. I had mine with one large potato boiled, but baking is always better. try it with a sweet potato instead and you will be in heaven. I usually use a ground provision with my salad for the meal to be heavier, but a bigger salad will also work!

This is the best raw salad I have had yet, try it and let I know how it goes!

Bless!

The Art of Salad Making n a quick Mash Soup Recipe

One Perfect Love!

If you are looking for Ital recipes and reasoning, I have created a special page for that, you can access it from the menu bar!
More Sistren are interested in recipes and I want to reiterate that many of my tutorials are basic steps to creating stir fry, salad, soup, or stew whether peas or provision. You can use whatever your taste is to create many meals by following the steps I do.
This post is about salad making but I have included a simple mash soup recipe which will make a perfect side or follow-up meal to salad for those who don't find salad to be filling on its own for very long.

Today I had this soup as dinner, after fruit for breakfast and a big salad for lunch and popcorn for snack.
Mash soups are great for when you are dieting or trying to lose weight because it is more of a liquid soup that you drink in mugs throughout the day. there are no real pieces of vegetables or the like - mash soup is made from mainly peas (one or more types), or a combination of peas and provision. the ingredients are either mashed or blended up to make it a drinkable soup. It is well seasoned with herbs as well.

I made a sweet soup of pumpkin, split pea, sweet potato and English potato. I added some dumplings for my daughter.

Sweet Mash Soup

I simply boiled 3/4 cup split peas until they were soft, with onion, pepper, garlic etc.
I filled the pot with water and just let it boil down, I never added water again. the soup should be boiling but on a medium flame throughout.
then I added about a quarter of a half piece of pumpkin cut in cubes, that was like two cups of big chunks. I mashed them together with the peas in the pot when they  got soft as well. this was to form the soup base.
I cubed one big potato and one medium size sweet potato and added them to the mashed base boiling In the pot. As the potatoes softened I mashed them down too. The soup will have a thick texture but not many chunks.
To make the dumplings I sifted 3/4 cup whole wheat flour and 1/4 corn flour, with 1 teaspoon baking powder and spoon of sugar, with a dash of salt. I used about 1/2 cup water adding gradually. Roll into balls with a little flour after dough is formed.
When I was satisfied with the texture of the soup I dropped the dumplings in. I let it cook five to ten minutes and then turned it off.

It is mellow, creamy and sweet! yum!!

But back to the salad!

The Art of Great Salad Making

I know it seems hard to make salad and  eat it everyday, for some it is not filling or appetising, or too crunchy. But it doesn't have to be that way - salad is quite enjoyable! It is all in how you prepare it.

1. First you have got to make your salad interesting!
Don't just put lettuce, tomato and cucumber and expect a miracle! The more fresh ingredients the better!
Tomato, carrot, cucumber, green leafy vegetables, okra, avocado, broccoli and beet root are great bases for a salad. I make sure I have all of these in each salad (except the avocado which is coming to season any day now).

2. Change your green leafy vegetables regularly!
Don't just use lettuce all the time. Use different kinds of lettuce like romaine, try kale and spicy green leaves like arugula and watercress. Chives and thyme and basil will also add some kick.

3. Add fruit for sweetness!
Beet root or carrot is sweet but chunks of fruit are great too. I like apple, strawberry, blue berries, pear and kiwi. I usually add just one fruit. But two works just as good. Cubes peaches, mango and apricots might also be quite nice. Some like tangerine slices.

Likewise if you want spice or zing add fresh onion or a pepper.

4. Add seeds or nuts to get more nutritional value! Pumpkin seeds are a favourite of many.

5. Add a grain to increase the "heaviness" of your salad if you don't feel full (though the bigger the salad the more full you will feel. It is a meal so make it big)

Add room temperature quinoa or cous cous, bulgar wheat or even millet, and make sure when you prepare them that your water is well seasoned with curry, saffron, cumin to name a few spices.

 6. Make everything bite size!
Eating salad as a meal isn't fun when u spend all your energy trying to chew hard chunks of carrot and cucumber!

Make sure your chunks are bite size for tomato, avocado, cucumber, strawberries, brocolli, apple, pear and kiwi. For broccoli I make sure to break the heads apart so that they are small as well and I add chunks of the stalk.

For the leafy veges I also chop them finely so that they blend well with everything else.

For okra I slice it very thin and then half it - I don't usually add more than two small okra because of the slime.

For carrot and beet root I always use a grater instead of chopping them - they are just too hard to chew in any size. u can add more this way too.

7. Make a dressing!
Lime juice or lemon juice works great.
If you want creamy you can blend an avocado.
Some people like oily dressing, so using olive or sesame or coconut oil, you can blend fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme, mint, chive, oregano and so on. Even add pepper if you like heat.

8. Have a great side dish like soup, or a pea stew, ground provision or fruit.
You don't have to eat your salad alone but it is good to ensure that at least once a day it is the bigger part of the meal. the more raw nutrients you get everyday, the better for your body!
While you may love cooked Ital, the best way to live is on a greater raw or fresh food intake than a cooked because you lose so much of the nutrients of the food to the heat.
You can even drink an herbal tea or a fresh juice or smoothie along with the salad.

9. Don't eat it cold, and store well to maintain freshness!
You don't have to eat it at room temp, but when the salad is not cold I find chewing all that freshness is not so hard on the teeth.

So I hope these tips will help you to eat more salad and actually full-joy it! they have helped me tremendously and now my body is set to have that for lunch everyday, leaving the heavy cooked meal until the evening time around 5-6 pm. If I eat more cooked meals in the day I find my dinner spoilt and too heavy.

Remember that treating the body well is a must if you are to balance your Irituality and Creativity. They must all harmonize for true wellness and health.

Blessed Love and Light!

My Journey to Real Ital Living: Bulgar Wheat Salad

Blessed Love

I know it's been a while but I've been either too busy or just indecisive about what to post.  pregnancy does take it's toll as all my Sistren know, so forgive me for not posting in a while.

But while I've been away I've been focusing on my health and really improving my livity - it's one thing to know what is right from wrong, and another thing to BREAK the unhealthy cycle which is simply just the easy routine of things. With this baby I find that I can't stand to eat much of the cooked food I am used to, and I find it hard to be at the stove for longer than 30 mins because the heat overwhelms me. I'm also dealing with shortness of breath and faintness due to a low pressure in my blood - even though my blood count is good. So I realized that it was time to put all my knowledge on true ital which is to say fresh uncooked eating, into practise, and let go of the old favourites - at least to some extent. it's not to say that I'm totally raw cuz I'm not, I'm just at the stage of really trying to implement more fresh foods into my meals and one cooked food meal a day.

I know I have posted youtube videos about cooking the vege stew and making soya but I really want to cut down on my intake of these foods and provide better tutorials- soya is actually not something I eat often, being pregnant made me start cooking it more, and the fact that my princess liked it - she's an extremely picky eater.  In reality Ital is fresh uncooked or lightly cooked foods, and it's important that I and I RasTafari raspect this truth and get ourselves out of this cooked food funk we all find ourselves in these days.  there are so many vegetarian foods on the market now, but the reality is that the real ital has always been fruits and veges with the occasional ground provision and pea stew. so this is my aim, that even with cooked food it will be limited to pea stew or soup and provision -hopefully. I'm not a big eater of rice, I eat instead grains like bulgar wheat and cous cous but even the grains are hard on the body and break down to sugars. like potato and wheat do as well.

and I find that smoking herb, though I've loved it for years, allows us to keep this bad habit because when the hunger hits, we want to eat something sweet and something heavy which are often not the right foods.
I've stopped smoking now as I did while carring my first baby and after learning about how it toxifies the blood when met with fire, am not sure I will start back, but may just juice it in my smoothies -yes! even though we use it as sacrament, this is not to say that it's not damaging to the nerves and brain, i want to use it beneficially not to just attain the Ites. I know I wrote about the hebrews using it and the burning fire, but the hebrews used it ceremonially as a communal fire not spliffs and they also used it in oil and rubbed it on the crown to gain the effect. though it has become tradition doesn't mean it's beneficial to the body, and the reason why some people have "gone mad" from use is not because herb is bad for you, but because burning it is bad for you in combination with a very poor deficient diet - they didn't eat enough or nutritiously, and their nerves were in the end shot because of the toxicity of the smoke to the blood and brain and lack of nutrients.

So far it's mainly been fruits I eat - though that has been difficult money and availability wise I've been managing to get a nice variety of fresh fruit: pawpaw, pineapple, apple, plums, kiwi, blueberries, strawberries and banana mostly. the berries are hardest to come by however.  obtaining fresh food or being able to afford it is about choosing it over other types of foods, which really is good budgeting and common sense lol.
In the morning I juice a smoothie with any combination of the above, and mid morning i have a bowl of any of the above because i like to just eat fruit not always drink it (plus I havent gotten a juicer yet which is a must!). I drink coconut water whenever the kingman stops and gets me some. Our tree is finally at a bearing stage but with the dry weather i saw it's first nut blossoms have dried up! I'm hoping that by next year it will be producing coconuts to my delight.

as of today I started with the raw vegetables. I made a  bulgar wheat salad and some hummus which I will share here. and in preparing my patchoy for the salad, i had a sip of the green juice and loved it, so I will be making my first green juice tomorrow.the lime really makes it nice.
the vegetable juices are best in the morning and afternoon, more for lunch, and then the meal like salad or my cooked food comes around 3 pm and after. but i still eat fruit in between, all day.

So this is the start of my journey to incorporate more fresh food into my daily livity, in hopes of not only curing a few health issues i've had for most of my life, but to really embrace ital to the fullest as it is key to having a true Iritual connection with the earth and with JAH. fresh food is cleansing and the best type of food for the body, it reduces the amount of energy the body spends in a day on digestion, allowing energy to go to the mind and creative irits. eating cooked food, dairy and all the wheat and dead animals makes the body work harder and makes it spend all day digesting, as these foods take up to 5 hrs to digest! so treating the body best with Ital allows it to really open up, and the mind to really be clear and free to do and create positive vibrations. I hope all sistren will join me in taking steps to becoming Truly Ital. I am inspired by those sistren who are already doing it, and who have already given up things I haven't. one day at a time though, with knowledge and positive power!

now onto the Bulgar Wheat Salad.

½ cup bulgar wheat
1 cup water
Saffron
Cumin
Powdered ginger
Dry basil leaves
7 leaves Green leafy vegetable – i used patchoy
1 stalk celery
15 grape tomatoes or 1-2 large Tomato
1 large Cucumber
½ Lemon/lime
1 leaf Chive
5 pieces of fresh Rosemary leaves
Onion optional

Heat the cup of water to boiling, add in 4 dashes of each of the cumin, saffron, basil and ginger.
Take off heat and add the bulgar wheat. Cover and let sit for 30 mins. Drain off excess water. Let it cool before mixing with salad.

Chop green leaves, celery, chives, rosemary, half a lime in blender. mine gave a little trouble to get all chopped but it worked out okay.

Dice tomato and cucumber into small pieces.

Mix all together with bulgar wheat and voila!

it was very tastey! I tried to make some tacos with romaine lettuce and my first attempt at hummus - was messy but I fulljoyed it lol - the leaves weren't big enough

for the hummus here's what I did - the coconut oil gives it a distinct flavour, maybe next time i will try olive. I opted for coconut because I know it's better for you than the others.

Hummus

2 large spoon full of coconut oil
Juice of 1 small lime
1 1sp cumin
2 dashes ground ginger
1 can peas with ¼ of water still
1 clove garlic

 blend it all together!
